morpheus8 & lutronic ultra:
We highly recommend ensuring you have at least 1-2 days set aside for your recovery.
The treated areas will look red/“sun burnt” - this is a normal anticipated reaction to treatment. This usually resolves within 24-48 hours post treatment.
You may experience some minor swelling, particularly around the eyes.
You will likely go through a “sand paper-y” period of healing where your skin will feel rough to the touch & some minor shedding/flaking may occur. This typically resolves in about 1 week for the face & up to 2 weeks for the neck/body.
vascular/pigmentation:
The treated areas will go through a red/swollen stage that typically lasts 2-7 days on average. Most people will start to see their results within 1-2 weeks post treatment.
You may potentially experience some scabbing/blistering during your recovery stage. This is a normal reaction however it may not happen to everyone.
what to avoid post treatment:
Avoid excessive heat/friction to the treated areas for 48 hours. Ie; No working out, hot showers, pools, saunas, etc. **You can shower however please be mindful of the temperature of the water.
Avoid makeup application to treated areas if applicable for 5-7 days. **Excludes Laser Pigment, Laser Vein & Laser Hair Removal
No sun exposure on the treated areas for at least 2 weeks.
Avoid retinol/tretinoin/hydroquinone use as well as AHA/BHA’s (Salicylic, glycolic, lactic acids, etc) to the treated areas for a minimum of 1 week OR until your skin is clear of visible signs of healing.
Avoid any hair coloring/bleaching for a minimum of 1 week after your service if the face/neck was treated **Applicable for Morpheus8, Lutronic Ultra, VI Peel & Keralase
-
2 weeks before:
No sun exposure where you’re actively tanning or burn
No self tanner/spray tan use
Discontinue any antibiotics/photosensitizing medication use. Always consult with your Primary Care Provider prior to discontinuing any medication use.
3-5 days before:
Discontinue any retinol/tretinoin/hydroquinone use to the treatment area(s)
Discontinue any AHA/BHA’s to the treatment area(s) (Salicylic, glycolic, lactic acids, etc)
Avoid hair coloring/bleaching appointments as the chemicals can temporarily sensitize the skin
Day of treatment recommendations:
Please arrive in comfortable clothes that you don’t mind potentially getting messy
Avoid applying any makeup to the face/neck if they’re being treated
Wash your hair the evening prior or morning of treatment (Applicable for face/neck/chest/scalp treatments: Morpheus8, Lutronic Ultra Mandatory for Keralase)
-
Important: massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 3 times a day, for two weeks
For best results:
Avoid consuming alcohol one day before your treatment
Avoid blood-thinning medication and supplements, like vitamins one week before
Post treatment care:
Within the first 24 hours you may gently apply a cold compress wrapped in cloth to help with swelling
Please note, light swelling and bruising may occur and may last 2-10 days. This is normal, and it will gradually go down on it's own. Any volume you see the first few weeks is swelling, not product. It can take about a month for Sculptra to start "growing"
Keep head elevated the first day/ night of your treatment
Avoid applying makeup immediately after treatment- wait a few hours
Avoid exercising for 24 hours
If you are experiencing complications please email us at info@vafamd.com

Cleanse
For the first 7 days, wash the treated area 1-2 times a day with gentle cleanser
Moisturize
After cleansing, apply a thin layer of Vaseline or Aquaphor to the treated area
Protect
Cover the area with a bandage. Use the ointment until there is no more crust forming. Exposing the wound to air to dry out is NOT recommended. Please make sure the soft pad of the band-aid is touching the area that was treated, that way you are not pulling the scab off with the sticky part of the band-aid
if you experience pain you may take Tylenol, but avoid Aspirin or Motrin, which increases bleeding
If you start bleeding
If bleeding starts, put continuous pressure on the area for 20 mins. If bleeding continues after that please email us at info@vafamd.com and we will reply ASAP
Signs of infection
A small area of redness (1/4in.) around the lesion/ where the area was treated is normal. If you experience more redness, pain, swelling, puss, drainage, streaks leading away from the removal site, please contact us immediately at info@vafamd.com. The area must be kept clean and may require up to 4-5 applications of antibiotics until you see the doctor.
Remember that any and all lesions can return. If a particular abnormality was removes and comes back looking different, please return for a follow-up appointment.
